Did you know that horseback riding is a sport for everyone? For beginners, the lessons are a unique way to spend time with friends while enjoying a fantastic workout. If you’re already familiar with the basic skills of trotting and cantering, don’t worry. You’ll still enjoy horseback riding in West Chicago. Check out our favorite equestrian centers below.

Soaring Eagle Stables and Equestrian Center

Soaring Eagle Stables has been a welcoming place for horseback riding enthusiasts since 2005.

Instructor Ruth Torres volunteered at the Danada Forest Preserve as a teenager, where she traded work for lessons. She later graduated from college with a degree in equine science and became a certified instructor two years later.

Today, Ruth offers both the English and Western styles of riding. She mainly focuses on teaching students how to ride in a balanced seat so they can specialize in either discipline. The center has great amenities, such as large stalls, a tack room, wash rack, and a shower. It also boasts a quarter-mile riding track along with an indoor riding arena.

AZ Acres

The employees at AZ Acres are consummate professionals in the horseback riding world. The center has 11 gentle horses from unique backgrounds. These horses have won numerous blue ribbons, appeared in presidential parades, and even jumped through fire during circus acts. So, you’re in good hands when you take lessons here.

The instructors at AZ Acres also have over 45 years of combined experience in teaching. They approach all challenges with confidence and positive energy. Thinking of diving straight in? Students can enjoy both private and group lessons here, which are offered daily by appointment.

Gateway Riding Center

Nestled in nearby Oswego, the Gateway Riding Center is a training and boarding facility that encourages lifelong learning. Instructor Jonelle Reuland teaches everything from dressage to Western riding. She also customizes the lessons based on a student’s needs and focuses on helping everyone develop better balance, flexibility, and timing.

As you see, these equestrian centers provide plenty of fun for riding enthusiasts in Illinois.
