Finally, if you’re visiting for the winter, check out the following activities to enjoy a perfect holiday season in Will County.
Grab Brunch at The Southern Cafe
If you haven’t yet done so, you have to try The Nasty Biscuit. Despite its disagreeable name, this dish is quite delicious: it comes with a buttermilk drop biscuit stuffed with crispy Southern-fried chicken. The entire dish is topped with cheesy scrambled eggs, crispy hash browns, and country gravy. Now, if that isn’t a great choice for a holiday breakfast, we don’t know what is.
The restaurant also offers specialty omelets, skillets, waffles, french toast, and pancakes. Are you a fan of the Netflix drama The Irishman? If so, you’ll love The Irishman specialty skillet, which comes with corned beef hash, peppers, onions, crispy hash browns, and two eggs your way. You can also choose either an English muffin or a side order of pancakes to go with your skillet meal.
All things considered, the expansive menu will please even the most discerning palette.
Explore Pilcher Park Nature Center
After brunch, take a short drive to Joliet and meander through the Pilcher Park Nature Center. With over 640 acres to explore, the park is the perfect place for an afternoon hike. In the winter, rent cross country skis and glide through miles of smooth trails. Visit the Bird Haven Greenhouse to catch the seasonal flower shows, as well.
Try Local Craft Brews at MyGrain Brewing Co.
Nestled inside the historic Joliet Union train station, MyGrain Brewing Co. serves craft beers brewed in house. Try a flight of its diverse beers, and if you’re ready for lunch, order one of the famous burgers. The one you’ll want to try is the Double Stout BBQ Burger, which comes with Stateville Stout BBQ sauce, bacon, fried onions, and cheddar cheese. Another premier burger locals swear by is the wagyu burger, which comes with gruyere cheese, seasonal mushrooms, truffle aioli, and truffle fries.
If you aren’t a beer drinker, MyGrain Brewing also features an amply stocked bar offering handcrafted cocktails and wine by the glass.
Catch a Show at the Rialto Square Theatre
