Trampoline parks have surged in popularity over the years. Today, there are no fewer than 600 trampoline parks in the United States. If you haven’t stepped inside one, check out Sky Zone, located less than 10 minutes from The Woodlands of Crest Hill.
History of the Trampoline
George Nissen and Larry Griswold created the first trampoline in the 1930s. As a gymnast, Nissen wanted to jump higher and improve his tumbling skills. In 1934, both men created the first trampoline out of scrap steel and inner tire tubes.
Decades later, Nissen and Griswold founded the United States Tumbling & Trampoline Association in 1971. Today, trampolining is a popular Olympic sport.
The Trampoline at the Olympics
Trampolining premiered during the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. If you’re a fan of this sport, you know that science combined with solid engineering made it possible for gymnasts to soar almost to the ceiling of tall buildings while performing multiple somersaults.
All about Sky Zone
Trampoline parks can accommodate both children and adults. Sky Zone is the world’s first indoor trampoline park. It prioritizes the safety of all its members above all else. Before visiting, be sure to read the safety rules. Note that anyone with soft or hard casts won’t be approved for Sky Zone activities.
When you first enter the Sky Zone trampoline area, you’ll see multiple flat trampolines with safety buffers between them. You can begin by walking across them to familiarize yourself with the experience of bouncing. Alternatively, you can jump right in and practice flips and twists.
For the adventurous, check out the trampolines after dark. The GLOW program promises lots of fun with music, black lights, and lasers. You’ll need to purchase a special GLOW shirt to participate. The shirt can be reused for future GLOW sessions, however.
You can purchase 30-day or 90-day jump passes or pay for 60-, 90-, or 120-minute sessions.
If all the exertion makes you hungry, check out the Fuel Zone concession area to enjoy snacks or beverages.
